See the Details page for dates, forms and information.

This field course in Central America began as a joint project between Roosevelt University and National Louis University; both universities are based in Chicago, IL. In December, 2007, two professors, 12 students and 4 accompanying participants traveled to the Belize Marine Tropical Research Center (TREC) in San Pedro, on the island of Ambergris Caye.

We spent a full week snorkeling along the second largest barrier reef in the world, enjoying the fantastic biodiversity of this protected area. Dr. Ken Mattes and Maureen Gannon, our very knowledgeable guides at Belize Marine TREC, pointed out dozens of different fish and invertebrates while we snorkeled very different sites along the reef ecosystem. One day was devoted to a boat trip to the mainland to visit ancient Mayan ruins nestled in dense forests echoing with the calls of howler monkeys.
