OLED 320: Organizational Communication Certificate Course
This course connects communication theory to the business environment. Students analyze communication issues internal and external to an organization by applying the theories to real business situations. Among the topics covered are communication theory, organizational structure, barriers to communication, gender, and diversity. (3 Semester Hours)
OLED 325: Organizational Communication II Certificate Course
Students make managerial decisions through case study analysis. Such analysis provides the basis for students to study the changing corporate environment, strategic communication, corporate image, internal communication, and crisis communication. Students develop a phased plan to deal with the immediate communication issues as well as to strengthen corporate communication over time. (3 Semester Hours)
OLED 330: Foundations of Organizational Leadership Certificate Course
This course is designed to provide you with the opportunity to explore leadership both up close and from a distance. Fundamental concepts for leaders, such as demographic diversity, technology, the era of human capital, business consolidation in a time of globalization, communication in a global economy, as well as specific leadership traits. Students analyze their own leadership qualities as they study changing organizational models and changes in leadership demands. (3 Semester Hours)
OLED 335: Organizational Change Certificate Course
All organizations go through processes of change and evolution in order to stay competitive in a rigorous business environment. This course will examine how effective changes are managed successfully including an examination of change agents, planning and communication, employee morale, barriers to change, measuring outcomes and more. (3 Semester Hours)
OLED 350: Decision Making and Group Dynamics
Businesses today are depending more and more on teamwork and working together. This course looks at why groups are formed, why they are needed, and how they evolve into effective decision making teams in the work place. (3 Semester Hours)
OLED 355: Innovation and Technological Change
The major types of information technology; the relationship of technological innovation to organizational change; the management of technical personnel; knowledge management; and mechanisms both for adapting new technologies and for adapting the workforce to use these technologies efficiently. (3 Semester Hours)
OLED 365: Diversity in the Workplace Certificate Course
This course will explore the opportunities and challenges diverse stakeholders present to leaders. These stakeholders include customers, employees, and community members. Diversity will be defined as the process of recognizing, understanding, valuing and utilizing differences. Some of the differences to be explored include national origin, gender, race, age, sexual orientation, religion, physical ability, thinking style, and working style. (3 Semester Hours)
OLED 370: Leadership Development & Succession Planning
This course will examine the management of an organization's most valuable resources, its employees. An examination of leadership qualities, development plans, developmental action items, fast tracking high potential employees, diversity employees, redirecting under-performers, basic succession planning design, impact on hiring and retention and how leadership development impacts an organization's bottom line will lead to a greater understanding of leadership development and succession planning. (3 Semester Hours)
OLED 375: Conflict Resolution and Negotiation
Explore the role of conflict in organizations, hone your observation skills, and develop skills with a process-based approach to successfully navigate conflict and negotiation. This course will forever change the way you view conflict. (3 Semester Hours)
There is power and influence in every organization. In this course we will look at the four ways they are framed, the structural, human resource, political and the symbolic. We will also look at individual influence and how a person can make a difference in guiding business, or even personal, decision making. (3 Semester Hours)
OLED 380: Strategy, Vision, and Planning Certificate Course
Strategic planning and its implementation can be a major reason in the success or failure of any organizations. The leadership role is extremely important in developing and communicating a vision that drives this process. This course will examine these factors and how they determine staying competitive. (3 Semester Hours)
