Borrowing Materials & Reserves To borrow materials, patrons must have a valid RU ID card, or a valid ID card form any of the CARLI libraries. For visitors with neither an RU nor CARLI ID card, all materials are used in-house only. Visitors are asked to leave an ID at the desk. Loan Periods
Fines & Fees Overdue items will be charged a flat rate fine of $5 per item, regardless of item type. There is a 30 day grace period starting on the due date, and if an overdue item is returned in the grace period, the $5 fine is waved. Items overdue longer than 60 days are considered “lost” and the borrowing patron is given a lost replacement charge of $60. If the item is returned after is it considered lost, the $60 charge is waved, however the $5 overdue fee still applies. See below for fines on reserve items. Reserve Instructors will restrict the use of certain course related materials by placing them on reserve at the PAL service desk. Materials on reserve may be identified by using the blue reserve binder at the service desk, or by using the course reserve feature of the online catalog. Ask the desk attendant for reserve items. Headphones may be loaned by request. Normally, reserve items are loaned for three hours, but in some circumstances, reserve items may loaned for longer periods at the request of the instructor. Reserve times may not be removed from the library without permission of the PAL staff. Be sure to return reserve materials when the loan period is over. The library charges a .50 fine per item per hour on overdue reserve items. Information on Reserves for Faculty My Account – Renewing Library Materials The My Account screen displays information about your library record and activity including: your name and address, titles you have checked out, items you have requested from other libraries and any fines or fees you have incurred. To access this information you must click on the Renew Books/My Account button above the catalog search box, and supply your Library ID and Last Name in the login screen. Library materials may be renewed twice. On the Renew Books/My Account page, click in the “Renew?” check box beside the item and then click the “Renew Selected Items” button. You may also be able to renew items by calling the PAL desk at 312-341-3651. |
