Interlibrary Loan While the Performing Arts Library collection is quite good, there are times when your information need will extend beyond what the library owns. In order to interlibrary loan items from other libraries, please use the following guide. Please note that many libraries, including the PAL do not circulate sound recordings via interlibrary loan. Looking for books, scores and recordings: Ø First Step: Search I-Share The PAL shares its catalog with more than 70 other academic libraries in Illinois, and RU students, faculty, and staff enjoy the benefit of being able to borrow freely from these libraries. The shared catalog is called I-Share With your RU ID in hand, you can borrow directly from the catalog. The automated ILL feature of I-Share works quickly, and most items arrive in a week or less. Ø Next Step: Search WorldCat WorldCat is also a shared catalog, but it covers many, many academic and public libraries around the country. Requests can be made directly in the catalog, and again, you must have your ID handy. Once a request is generated, it is forwarded to the library’s Interlibrary Loan department. Expect at least 10 days for a WorldCat request to arrive.
If you
are unable to locate the book you need in either
I-Share
or
WorldCat,
you may use the
Interlibrary Loan
Book Request Form Looking for articles: Please use the Interlibrary Loan Article Request Form, filling in as much information about the article as is possible. Where’s my request? Questions about your requests can be made at the PAL circ desk, or by calling 312-341-3651. The interlibrary loan office may be contacted directly at 312-341-3638. |
