About CDs & Videos All sound and video recordings (CD, LP “records”, cassette, VHS, DVD) materials may not be used outside of the library by students, alumni and visitors. Faculty and staff may borrow these formats for a loan period of three days. The PAL maintains a listening/viewing room, equipped with players for all formats we own. Patrons have their choice of using a carrel, a study table or a group study room. The only exception to this rule is in the case an audio/video recording is needed for a lesson or classroom presentation. An ID must be presented as close as possible to the start of the lesson or presentation. The ID will be held at the PAL desk while the recording is in use. Recordings may not be loaned overnight. Sound and video recordings are identified in the online catalog chiefly by their call number. In some cases the call number prefix MPHONO is present as well, but not on all sound recordings. Call number headings identify the kind of recording: Sound Recordings
CD = compact disc Video Recordings
DVD = Digital Video Disc Sound and video recordings are held behind the service desk. When requesting a recording, please write the full call number on a slip (ex. “MPHONO Oversize CD 1458”) and hand it to the attendant. |
