Primary Scholarly Interests
I am a longtime student of the city, most recently focusing on the political economy and cultural politics of gentrification. I am also a longtime student of movements for social and political change, with my most sustained work focused on the Southern civil rights movement, the Black Power movement, the US AIDS street activist movement, and the US lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender movement.
