Materials for your dragon creation:

The following items will be available for you to use from our art station in class. Feel free to contribute any items from home you think will make your dragon unique.

Make your paper machè dragon.

1.   Refer to your sketch drawing to model your frame.

2.   Make your dragon’s frame using the chicken wire, boxes, masking tape. No bigger than 15” long and 12” tall.

3.   Use the pre-made paper machè glue, newspaper strips, to cover the frame. This is when you begin to refine the shape of the dragon’s body.  Repeat this step 3 times, let each layer dry completely before adding another by drying over night each time. Remember: smooth the final layers of your completely covered dragon; make sure all strips overlap and no holes are visible to the frame.

4.   Design your dragon’s features and paint them.

5.   Let stand for thorough drying over night.

6.   Check for imperfections.

7.   Display it proudly with its name and yours.
