9/15 Discuss 1st student paper; research proposals (small groups); surveys and notetaking strategies Informal proposal due (topic, key questions); read student paper #1 (on reserve), Booth (ch. 6 and 7)
9/22 Discuss 2nd student paper: anatomy of an argument. Review progress reports. Sign up for conferences and mid-term oral reports Formal proposal due; read student paper #2, sample abstracts (on reserve), Booth (ch. 8-10)
