| The goal of the prairie soil research conducted by Vicky McKinley and Roosevelt University students is to determine the impact of the botanical restoration of former tallgrass prairies on the soil microbial populations. Questions addressed include, do the numbers and metabolic activities of microbes in rehabilitated prairie soils return to those of virgin tallgrass praires? If so, how long does this take? Do different restoration techniques result in different effects on soils? |
